An In-Depth Study Program
With Resident Teacher Gen Kelsang Sanden
Location: KMC Vancouver: 1833 Victoria Diversion, Vancouver
What is the Foundation Program (FP)?
Anyone can join and experience the great benefits of being part of this regular study program. Through this we can improve our good heart, our wisdom, and our cherishing of others by going deeper into our study and meditation practice.
The Foundation Program (FP) is a way to deepen your experience of Buddha’s teachings and find meaning and lasting happiness in your modern life. Joining FP involves studying the entire section of the book and attending all classes. Each class consists of prayers, guided meditation, teaching and discussion. You are welcome to attend a class before enrolling.

What book are we studying?
Currently studying: The New Eight Steps to Happiness: The Buddhist Way of Loving Kindness
Discover the essential methods for developing universal love and compassion, the source of true happiness for both ourself and others. On the Foundation Program, we are studying the book, ‘The New Eight Steps to Happiness’ by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso – an inspiring book that explains how to meditate on eight beautiful verses that comprise one of Buddhism’s best loved teachings.
Now, in these classes we can enjoy this ancient wisdom and the extraordinary results of applying these teachings in our daily lives: loving relationships, a peaceful mind, and the ability to transform all life’s difficulties into valuable spiritual insights.
How do I join or learn more?
Foundation Program is not a drop in class, and you must enrol for the section of the book being studied. However, we invite you to sit in on a free trial class if you are interested, by emailing our Education Program Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org. You can join the program at almost anytime in the book.
The class fee is included in the FP Supporting Membership, which is $80 monthly. Supporting Membership entitles you to attend all the FP and drop in classes, and gives you discounts on special weekend events at the centre.
