Book Studied (starting January 24th, 2022) : New Heart of Wisdom by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche
Do you find it challenging to keep a peaceful mind throughout the day? Do you find it difficult to apply Buddha’s teachings in daily life? Do you want to deepen your understanding and experience of Kadampa Buddhism?
The Foundation Program is a structured weekly study program and currently taking applications.
Starting January 24th we will be starting the second part of the book The New Heart of Wisdom which is the perfect time for new students to join. This section of the book presents an inspiring course on Buddhist meditation, how to apply meditation in daily life and instruction on how we can make our life happy and meaningful.
About the Program
The Foundation Program (FP) is designed for those who wish to deepen their understanding and experience of Kadampa Buddhism through a systematic study of six texts by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche.
When you join, you will experience the great benefits of being part of this systematic study program. Through this you can improve your good heart, your wisdom, and your cherishing of others by going deeper into your study and meditation practice. Read more about the texts studied and benefits HERE.
This is not a drop-in program and enrolment is required. Students sign up at the start of each new book or section of a book. You are required to have attended General Program classes regularly for a minimum of 6-months before joining the Foundation Program.
For enquiries about the program please email our Education Program Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org
Commitments of Joining the Foundation Program
- To attend every class if possible (including the review classes).
- To memorize, to the best of your ability the Condensed Meaning or Root Text of the books and to sit a written examination at the end of each book or section of a book.
- To maintain an intention to attend one puja or prayer service each week organized by the Centre.
- To prepare for each class (read ahead and give thought to what will be covered) so discussion partners’ efforts are respected.
- To attend the group discussions.
In addition, you will be expected to help Kadampa Meditation Centre Vancouver to flourish in practical ways – such as by occasionally putting up daily water offerings, cleaning the meditation room and other areas as needed, helping in assisting at classes and short courses where possible and assisting or teaching at General Program classes from time to time.
Prioritizing the Study Program in your personal schedule
Making your Foundation Training Program a high priority is essential for your studies and meditations to be successful. The Program term dates will be available in advance every six months to help participants with their attendance commitment.
Encouragement from the Author – Geshe Kelsang Gyatso:
“If we just dabble superficially in a spiritual path we will never gain a deep and stable experience, and our wisdom will never develop to its full potential. This is why these spiritual programs are so important.”
– Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
