**Registration is ONLY required if you plan on attending the Close Retreat, otherwise you are welcome to come to any session at any time to participate.**

This January, for the first time at KMC Vancouver, we are offering the opportunity to engage in retreat of Guru Sumati Buddha Heruka with an option to engage in close retreat.  Anyone and everyone is welcome to participate in this retreat at any level. We could simply attend the introductory talk on January 3 (a wonderful gift to ourselves and others ) and receive inspiration for the upcoming year. We can, following the instructions at the introduction, also engage in one or more sessions of at home practice or at the centre,  and we can also go further and engage in counting retreat or a close retreat.

At whatever level we engage, we will be learning how to receive the blessings of all the Buddhas through reciting the mantra of Guru Sumati Buddha Heruka and putting our growing understanding into practice. This will provide impetus for making our life more spiritually based and is a perfect method to discover the treasury of jewel-like realisations hidden within the precious Kadam Emanation Scripture also known as the Ganden Emanation Scripture.

In these times we can see how ordinary methods of solving problems are not able to address the deeper issues that face living beings, for instance how to live harmoniously with one another or how to find true happiness for ourself and others. Solutions to these deeper problems can be found only through spiritual practice. This practice that is the subject of this retreat is a very profound way to address these problems for ourselves and for everyone.

For more information, come to the introductory talk on January 3. Also you can write epc@mediateinvancouver.org to request further information.

This retreat is open to everyone at any level of experience for any level of participation.

Who is Guru Sumati Buddha Heruka?
Guru Sumati Buddha Heruka is a special manifestation of Buddha, who leads fortunate modern people to enlightenment quickly and easily.

Buddhas appear in countless manifestations for special purposes according to the needs of living beings. Buddha himself appeared in the form of an ordinary being to Found the Buddhist Tradition in this world. He also appeared in a subtler form as Buddha Vajradhara to lead qualified disciples along the quick path to enlightenment explained in Highest Yoga Tantra Teachings; and he appeared as Buddha Heruka to teach the Heruka and Vajrayogini Tantras that we practice in Modern Kadampa Buddhism.

Buddha appeared as Je Tsongkhapa in the 14th century in order to establish the Kadam Lamrim of the Ganden Tradition whose special presentation of Buddha’s teachings made it possible for people to practice all the stages of the paths of Sutra and Tantra easily though decreasing wisdom in the world had made practicing spiritual paths purely increasingly difficult.

Later Je Tsongkhapa appeared as our own Founder Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche who now manifests through his books and through our Spiritual Guides teaching and guiding us in the paths of Modern Kadampa Buddhism, giving modern people the opportunity to practice the meaning of all Buddha’s teachings easily even as wisdom has continued to decrease in the world and practicing spiritual teachings purely has become ever more difficult in general.

This recognition of Buddha is a special practice of Guru Yoga described by Buddha. If we hold this special view in our hearts, we receive the powerful blessings of all Buddhas through Guru Sumati Buddha Heruka.

In truth, enlightened beings can appear as anything and anyone. We can never be sure what or who is not an emanation of Buddha even though they may appear as ordinary seeming people in ordinary seeming bodies.

Buddha’s actual body and mind pervades all phenomena. If enlightened beings are appearing in any particular ordinary body, we should not be deceived and think that they are really ordinary: this is simply one of countless manifestations emanated for our benefit. Buddhas’ countless emanations will continue to appear for the benefit of living beings until each and every living being has finally attained enlightenment.
