This prayer practice is the Heart Jewel of the Kadampa Tradition, including prayers for wisdom, compassion and spiritual protection. By engaging in it regularly we can make swift spiritual progress and our meditation practices and become a beneficial presence in the lives of others – we need to do this for everyone’s sake. It includes 15 minute silent meditation time for your personal meditation on lamrim. Everyone is welcome! Just follow this link. It helps to ‘arrive’ a few minutes before start time to settle our minds, but we can join anytime during the practice. Most often the link will be live at least ten minutes before the practice.
Chanted prayers (Pujas) are an important component of training in a spiritual life. They help us to still our mind, connect with enlightened beings, and receive blessings.
The practices of Heart Jewel and Wishfulfilling Jewel are at the very heart of Kadampa Buddhism. In the first part we visualize our Spiritual Guide as Je Tsongkhapa and make prayers and requests to purify negativity, accumulate merit, and receive blessings. This prepares our mind for a fifteen-minute meditation on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment. After the meditation we make prayers to our Dharma Protector, Dorje Shugden. Through this we can overcome obstacles to our practice and create favorable conditions so that we can nurture and increase our pure Dharma realizations. (1 hour)
