Wishfulfilling Jewel with Tsog

What is Wishfulfilling Jewel? An inspiring prayer practice to develop our wisdom, compassion and spiritual protection for the benefit of all living beings.

Wishfulfilling Jewel is the heart essence of Kadampa Buddhism. In the first part we visualize our Spiritual Guide as Je Tsongkhapa and make prayers and requests to purify negativity, accumulate merit, and receive blessings. This prepares our mind for prayers on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment, and to our Dharma Protector, Dorje Shugden. Through this we can overcome obstacles to our practice and create favorable conditions so that we can nurture and increase our pure Dharma realizations.

This practice includes a special tsog (or food) offering. Traditionally, those who wish, bring a vegetarian food offering.

Profound Teachings from Buddha's Heart

Portugal Festival 2013 Revisited

In October 2013 Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche gave his last public teachings in Portugal.

During these teachings Geshe-la granted the empowerment of Great Mother Prajnaparamita, taught the Essence of Wisdom Sutra (Heart Sutra), which contains the heart essence of Buddha’s perfection of wisdom teachings, and gave commentaries to The Blissful Path, the condensed self-generation sadhana practice of Buddha Vajrayogini and to The Uncommon Yoga of Inconceivability, the special instruction of how to reach the Pure Land of Vajrayogini with our present human body.

During the teachings he also shared priceless heart advice and encouragement such as how to control our distractions so that our meditations will be effective.

During Summer Festival 2024 with Gen-la Kelsang Dekyong and Gen-la Kelsang Jampa we will revisit these precious teachings and we will receive additional priceless jewels that Venerable Geshe-la has shared personally since then. Giving us the great opportunity to connect deeply to our precious Root Guru, enabling his teachings to deeply touch our hearts and for us to gain practical experience of them. In this way we will enrich our spiritual lives and draw closer to attaining full enlightenment so that we can benefit all living beings.

The Festival will take place in the blessed Temple for World Peace set in the holy environment of Manjushri Kadampa Meditation Centre, the Mother Centre of Kadampa Buddhism, which is located in Ulverston in the beautiful Lake District, UK. It is open to everyone and suitable for all levels of experience.

On this special annual retreat that comes around just once every year. We will spend two days with thousand-armed (eleven-faced) Avalokiteshvara – ‘Mahakaruna’ – the nature of our Guru’s great compassion. This will involve making exquisite offerings, praises and prostrations and thereby accumulating huge merit, purifying vast negativity for ourself and others and receiving the most powerful blessing to propel ourself swiftly along our path to enlightenment.

Wrapped within the practice of the Mahayana Precepts, Nyungnay involves fasting and making three sessions of prostrations, with the sadhana ‘Drop of Essential Nectar‘, over two days. Usually the second day is accompanied by a full fast, which although recommended, is not compulsory.
