CLASSES & EVENTS LIST
Heart Jewel
A special Guru yoga of Je Tsongkhapa combined with the condensed sadhana of his Dharma Protector and a short 20-minute mediation. This puja includes two practices revealed by the Wisdom Buddha Manjushri. The first is a special Guru yoga in which we visualize our Spiritual Guide as Je Tsongkhapa, who himself is a manifestation of Manjushri.
By relying upon this practice, we can purify negativity, accumulate merit, and receive blessings. In this way, we will naturally accomplish all the realizations of the stages of the path of Sutra and Tantra, and in particular we will attain a very special Dharma wisdom.
Powa
Through practicing transference of consciousness, known as ‘powa’ with faith, compassion and concentration we can transfer the consciousness of those recently deceased to a higher rebirth or to the Pure Land of a Buddha. The ceremony can be done either by a group of practitioners or individually on behalf of one or more deceased persons, or countless deceased beings.
By engaging in this practice we also create a great collection of virtue, which will also lead us into the pathway to a Buddha’s Pure Land. Please let us know if a loved one has died and we can do this practice for them.
Digital Detox
Step away from your digital world and immerse yourself in a short retreat to unplug and reclaim time for what truly matters.
Experience the transformative power of meditation to help us relax, destress, and discover a more peaceful mind. With a less distracted mind, we can create powerful intentions for change.

Each session will consist of short teachings and meditations. Between sessions, enjoy refreshments, lunch and the opportunity to ask questions. Our shop also offers a variety of books and other meditation materials to support your journey toward a greater sense of balance and fulfillment in your life.

What is Wishfulfilling Jewel? An inspiring prayer practice to develop our wisdom, compassion and spiritual protection for the benefit of all living beings.
Wishfulfilling Jewel is the heart essence of Kadampa Buddhism. In the first part we visualize our Spiritual Guide as Je Tsongkhapa and make prayers and requests to purify negativity, accumulate merit, and receive blessings. This prepares our mind for prayers on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment, and to our Dharma Protector, Dorje Shugden. Through this we can overcome obstacles to our practice and create favorable conditions so that we can nurture and increase our pure Dharma realizations.
This practice includes a special tsog (or food) offering. Traditionally, those who wish, bring a vegetarian food offering.

Foundation Program
Foundation Program
WEDNESDAYS | 6:40–8:40PM
We are currently studying the book Joyful Path of Good Fortune, by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.
We all have the potential for self-transformation, and a limitless capacity for the growth of good qualities, but to fulfil this potential we need to know what to do at every stage of our spiritual journey.
With this book, Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche offers us step-by-step guidance on the meditation practices that will lead us to lasting inner peace and happiness. With extraordinary clarity, he presents Buddha’s teachings in the order in which they are to be practiced, enriching his explanation with stories and analogies. A perfect guidebook to the Buddhist Path.
The Foundation Program requires enrollment. It is not a drop-in class. If you are interested in joining or have any questions, please email epc@meditateinvancouver.org.

Offering to the Spiritual Guide
Chanted prayers (Pujas) are an important component of training in a spiritual life. They help us to still our mind, connect with enlightened beings, and receive blessings.
Feast of Great Bliss
Once we have completed a Vajrayogini close retreat of actions and a fire puja, we are qualified to perform this self-initiation practice. This renews and strengthens our Bodhisattva and Tantric vows, and purifies negativities, including Tantric downfalls.
Practising self-initiation regularly is important because maintaining our vows and commitments is the foundation of all Tantric attainments and, if we break our vows and commitments and do not restore them through an appropriate method, this will be a great obstacle to our attaining Tantric realizations.
Through taking self-initiation regularly we open the door to successful practice of generation stage and completion stage, we will be cared for by Heruka and Vajrayogini in all our lives and receive their blessings so that we quickly attain the Pure Land of Vajrayogini.

Liberation from Sorrow: Prayers to Buddha Arya Tara
At Kadampa Centers worldwide, the eighth of the month is Tara Day. This month due to the Tara empowerment on the 8th in Aldergrove, we are doing our usual practice in Vancouver on the 9th.
Tara is a female Buddha, whose name means “Rescuer.” She is the embodiment of swift compassion. If we rely upon Tara sincerely and with strong faith, she will protect us from all obstacles and fulfill all our wishes.
Everyone is welcome and invited to join us for Tara’s chanted prayer practice, Liberation from Sorrow.
